Based in San Francisco, artist Julie Blankenship works with found materials, layering them with ink, dust and glue. Inspired by archives, her work alludes to metamorphoses, dark histories and gothic struggles. Her work was recently shown at Burning Man’s Museum of No Spectators and in Nordic Folktales Revisited at Nordic Northwest in Portland. She often participates in collaborations, such as Silent Fire, produced by Yale Institute of Sacred Music and Nasty Women Connecticut.
